Recently we had 17 beneficiaries arrive at Mullers Optometrists in Cavendish Mall who have generously donated their time for the next four Monday afternoons to provide full eye testing for our beneficiaries.
It was an interesting commute from Khayalitsha to Cavendish Mall with lots of questions around “Will the doctor stick a needle into my eye?!” Even though many were quite nervous, never having had their eyes tested before, they were brave enough to undertake the journey.
A little girl named Loli joined us with her mother, and it was discovered by “Dr Muller” that she does wear glasses. However her spectacles were quite broken and she was only allowed to wear them at school to avoid any further potential damage as they cannot afford another pair. Due to her poor eyesight, she has also fractured leg, from not being able to see the staircase in front of her.
A BIG thank you to Mullers Optometrists for opening up your beautiful practice to see our beneficiaries and for supporting children like Loli.
And not forgetting Grandpa Maxon, who makes his income through gardening. He will now be able to do a much better job he says!
